Kids Adventure Weekend Explores Outdoor Skills at Woodlands Nature Station

The Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area will host Kids Adventure Weekend during Labor Day weekend, September 5-7. "This weekend is all about helping kids explore new outdoor skills through fun activities and programs," says naturalist Annabelle Barr, "Our hope is that these activities will help children to be more confident in their next outdoor adventure."


Visitors can attend programs about oudoor skills like knot-tying, how to use a compass, campfire cooking, Land Between the Lakes wildlife, and more. A full schedule of activities can be seen on the Land Between the Lakes website here.


The Woodlands Nature Station will also offer guided sunset kayak trips on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, from 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. With experienced naturalists, kayak trip participants will explore the nooks and crannies of a Barkley Lake Bay and search for wildlife like beavers, osprey, and eagles.
