Murray, Hazel & Calloway Co.

Railways

Murray-Calloway Co. Economic Development Corporation
Formerly NC&StL, this railroad was built around 1890 through Murray, Hardin, Benton, and Paducah.  Over the next 100 years, the railroad went through several different acquisitions.  In 1983, when Seaboard Systems owned the line, it suspended local operations and pulled 30 miles of tracks from Hardin to Paducah.  The remaining tracks from Hardin to Murray was purchased by another railroad company which seldom used it.  In 1993, the railroad was bought by the Hardin Southern Railroad (the line from Hardin to Murray) and served primarily as a nostalgic train ride until 2005.  Then the Murray-Calloway Co. Economic Development Corporation purchased the line from Hardin to 1 mile north of Murray where the tracks join the KWT Railroad.

KWT Railway
Murray's rail service comes from KWT Railway.  The line runs from about 10 miles north of Murray to Bruceton, TN.  The railway was built in 1892 and, at one time, was a major route between Nashville and St. Louis.
