Healthcare

Murray is home of the largest pubic hospital in the lakes area,
the Murray/Calloway County Hospital. Serving the west Kentucky and
northwest Tennessee region for over 90 years, MCCH is a 366-bed facility
with over 60 physicians representing 26 medical specialties.
Murray's accreditations
include the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations, the Kentucky Health Facilities and Health Services, the
American Association of Blood Banks, and the Kentucky Department of
Health and Human Services.
Cancer
patients can now receive treatment locally at the Regional Cancer
Center. Operated by MCCH, the Regional Cancer Center allows patients to
receive treatment for cancer in Murray, rather than travel long
distances to major hospitals. A quote from their
website: "We have made a major investment in the Regional
Cancer Center to insure the latest technology and the most specialized
cancer treatments and care are available now in
Murray."
Murray-Calloway
County Hospital's newest facility is the J. Stuart Poston Center for
Health and Wellness. The facility offers a wide
variety of programs for exercise, nutrition, and general health and
safety. At the center, you will have the opportunity to participate in
aquatics programs for adults and children, aerobics classes for all
ages, prenatal/postnatal exercise classes, and much more. For more
information about the J. Stuart Poston Center for Health and Wellness, and
Murray-Calloway County Hospital, visit their website at www.murrayhospital.org.
The hospital began an aggressive
expansion in 2007. The project will add well over 100,000 square
foot of space at a cost of $40 million.
